Sebastian Vettel claims Spa-Francorchamps is not Red Bull’s ‘favourite circuit’ – Formula 1 news
The current championship leader Sebastian Vettel has recently stated that the Spa-Francorchamps is not Red Bull Racing team’s favourite circuit despite the fact that he believes that the team’s car is going to be strong at this coming weekend’s Belgian Grand
Prix there.
“It's not our favourite circuit because there are a lot of straights here, more than on most of the other tracks. There are some corners but they're all in sector two so sector one and sector three are quite difficult; we've seen that in the past,” he said.
The upcoming race is definitely going to be quite difficult for the team as McLaren and Ferrari might prove to be better at Spa since their car is more suited to that kind of a circuit.
“It's a very nice track all in all, and I'm looking forward to the weekend. Surely the last couple of races we know that we might not have been on top of our game but I think we've understood and learnt quite a lot, so we'll see where we are this weekend,”
Vettel added.
McLaren and Ferrari have scored better results at fast tracks and since the past 3 races, they have been much better than RBR in terms of pace as a result of which the Belgian Grand Prix might not be the best event for the championship leaders after the
one-month summer break.
RBR have been struggling to perform in the second half of the 2011 Formula 1 season but since they have a sufficient lead, they are not worried about their chances of winning the 2011 titles.
The only way McLaren or Ferrari can defeat the current championship leaders is to win almost all of the remaining races of the 2011 Formula 1 season and to expect at least around 2 retirements from Vettel.
Otherwise, the reigning world champion will not face any problem in defending his title and will easily defeat his rivals this year which is not something McLaren or Ferrari want this year.
