Sebastian Vettel commits his future to Red Bull Racing Team – Formula 1 news
Recent reports suggest that the current Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has agreed to sign a new contract with Red Bull Racing Team that is going to bind him with them until 2014.
Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz had told the press that Vettel should sign a contract extension “soon.” The team’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko also confirmed that the deal will be inked before the start of the 2011 season.
“It was in mutual agreement that we extended Sebastian's contract to 2014. Both sides wanted to continue the partnership, so it was no big issue,” said Marko.
It was expected that Sebastian’s current contract would expire after the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season with an option only in place for the following year. However, it has been revealed that the German is going to stay with the team for at least another
three years after signing a new deal with Red Bull.
There was a lot of speculation that Vettel might move to Ferrari after the 2011 Formula 1 season especially since he admitted that he wants to drive for a more reliable team in the future.
After testing for Red Bull Racing Team during the pre-season test sessions, he later on admitted that he is in no rush to leave his team as they helped him win his first drivers’ title.
“If you look at my passport, I think I've got more than a couple of years more to think about it. I'm very happy where I am, it's like a family. I have a special relationship with Red Bull and I'm proud of that,” Vettel told the media.
As a result, it is now believed that he is not going to leave Red Bull anytime soon especially if they put up a good performance in the new season.
