Sebastian Vettel continues ‘100 percent’ pole position record in Turkey – Formula 1 update
Formula 1 Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel, has secured another pole position in the Turkish Grand Prix. After experiencing a crash during the Friday free practice session on May 6, the German continued his 100 percent pole place record, for the current
year’s title at the Istanbul Park Circuit.
Vettel successfully finished all three parts of qualifying in Turkey, ahead of all strong rivals of Formula 1. He completed his fastest lap, with a time of 1 minute and 25.049 seconds.
After the qualifying round, he said, “We saw in the last race and in the other races, we see this year the races have changed and important to handle the tyre situation, for both of us after the first run we had the feeling that we might be safe but you
never know, you do that again until the day arrived, and other people prove you wrong.”
He went on to add, “I am very happy with the result. We did not have a trouble-free morning, so we had a bit to catch up. I like the track so that helps and it was nice to see that without that many laps I was able to come back and find the rhythm.”
The German also discussed that the wet tyres were quite odd, but he is content after securing his pole place for the team.
Vettel further added, “It was funny because Mark and I decided to skip the second run. It is strange the feeling. The others are on track and you know they can beat you.”
On the other hand, team-mate Mark Webber secured his second pole position in the qualifying round. The Austrian team was confident due to their drivers’ superiority on the track, as others rivals failed to beat them.
After a positive race in China, Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg again delivered his best run on the grid and secured his third pole place, for the Sunday race.
Rosberg’s team-mate, Michael Schumacher was again unable to gather his good run on the track, as he could secure his eighth place for the Turkish race.
McLaren team drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were far from the pole position runners. They completed their fourth and sixth place, respectively, on the grid.
Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso really worked hard over the qualifying round and decreased his team’s gap with Red Bull Racing team. His team-mate, Felipe Massa successfully made his place in the top 10, but he did not contest in Q3.
Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld took seventh and ninth on the grid for Renault, respectively.
After a successful practice session and qualifying round, all teams are ready for Sunday’s race. With the form all drivers are currently in, the race at the Istanbul Park Circuit will surely be an interesting one.
