Sebastian Vettel declares British GP as one of his favourites – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel has declared the British GP as one of his favourites in Formula 1 because of the challenge it presents to the drivers.
According to the Red Bull driver, “Apart from the unpredictable English weather, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone is a highlight of the season and one of my favourite tracks. It’s located only 30km from our factory in Milton Keynes and the circuit’s
a real challenge. Even after the paddock and pit lane conversion, it remains a tough track.”
Copse, Maggots, Becketts and Chapel corners are some of the most famous in the sport and all of the drivers love to be at the Silverstone circuit because of them. Although they provide the spectators a chance to witness some thrilling racing, these corners
are extremely challenging from a driver’s point of view.
Vettel believes that the drivers need to take all the corners perfectly in order to get a perfect lap time, but the first one really sets the tone.
He claimed, “You have to catch the first one perfectly, otherwise the rhythm is off for all of them and at the end, Chapel is so insanely fast. If you have driven properly in the previous three corners and the car is well tuned then you can drive through
full throttle.”
Historically, Red Bull have been strong in the British GP because of the fast nature of the track. This will really give immense confidence to the triple world champion, who is currently leading the Drivers’ Championship with three victories to his name
out of seven rounds.
If the young German manages to get a strong result in Silverstone, he will definitely be in the driver’s seat. Moreover, it will be good for the team, as the reigning champions are on top of the table with 201 points at the moment. They have been pushed
hard by Ferrari this year and it will not be easy to keep the Italian squad silent for long.
Almost all of the drivers have rated the Silverstone circuit as one of the best on the calendar, which is why they are really looking forward to the upcoming event. Furthermore, the track provides various overtaking opportunities, which will excite the fans
