Sebastian Vettel demands Red Bull to further progress for victory at Hungary – Formula 1
Red Bull Racing team driver Sebastian Vettel has demanded his team to make further progress in order to win the 11th Formula 1 round taking place in Hungaroring, Budapest.
The German driver has said that in order to challenge the crucial rivals McLaren and Ferrari in championship, RBR need to speed up their progress and especially to score a win at the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Vettel said, “It was pretty slippery at the beginning, but later on I felt okay in the car but I think it is not like last year. It seems to be very tight. McLaren and Ferrari are very quick so I think we need to raise our game to make sure that we will
find ourselves at the top as well.”
Vettel was conscious about his pace when he lacked the ability to lap better than Lewis Hamilton who led the final time sheets of FP1 and FP2 on Friday. In the first free practice session Vettel was following the Brit with couple of hundredths delay.
Later in the second free practice session he was significantly slower and held a fifth place at the time chart. He was lapping 0.5 seconds slower than the benchmark setter Hamilton. Whereas Vettel’s RBR teammate Mark Webber was also a few tenths faster than
him at the final time chart.
Vettel said, “Obviously I just got out of the car so we need to see what the others did, how long the tyres actually last. The most important thing to look out for is managing the tyres for one lap but equally trying to get everything out of the tyres.”
There is also another key factor to look upon as the tyre wear out is quicker than expected. Although the German driver improved his lap times but he was not able to challenge his top rivals. He also added that the keeping the tyres usable for maximum number
of laps is going to be a tough task.
In addition to the tyres issue, he was suffering with a fuel issue and could not beat both McLaren drivers. This also made Vettel to demand the immediate action to improve the pace, as considering the 2010 event at the venue, RBR were way better than present
performance stats.
