Sebastian Vettel denying Blown Diffuser clampdown to hit Red Bull in the middle of 2011 – Formula 1
Red Bull’s Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel is still denying the fact that the Blown Diffuser clampdown from the Silverstone Grand Prix of the 2011 Formula 1 season will hit his team more than any other team.
The defending champion Vettel stated that his team will lose some speed on the track but all the front running teams will also lose the advantage they gained from the Diffuser.
The Diffuser is about to be banned from the Silverstone Grand Prix and it was said that Red Bull will lose a substantial lead in the qualifiers as well as in the race.
However, Vettel has said that Red Bull will not lose something extra after the Diffuser is gone.
“I don't believe it will hit us harder than anybody else. You can argue about why it is happening in the middle of the season, but in terms of the World Championship there is still a very long way to go. An awful lot can happen very quickly, as we saw last
year,” commented Vettel.
However, Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko stated that the ban on the Diffuser during the season in strange. He also said that Ferrari might take an advantage out of the clampdown as every front running team except them uses the Diffuser.
The Diffuser was a technology brought and mastered by the Red Bull team through which they managed five wins in the first seven races of the season. Although in the latest few encounters, the lead of the Red Bull team was cut short by McLaren and Ferrari
but still the Milton Keynes-based team was uncatchable in the qualifiers.
Nevertheless, Vettel has once again said that Red Bull will not lose too much when the Blown Diffuser becomes history.
The last race with the Blown Diffuser will be the European Grand Prix which will be contested on June 26, 2011 but it will be interesting to see how Red Bull cope up with the situation after the Diffuser is clamped.
