Sebastian Vettel eagerly looks forward to fight for championship title – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is eagerly looking forward to perform well in the second half of the 2012 Formula 1 season so as to fight for the championship title.
Vettel had dominated during the last season and took victories in 11 races. However, he has been seen struggling in this year with finding his true pace and has only been able to score one race win until now.
At present, he is standing at third place in the drivers’ championship with 122 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and is just two points behind his teammate, Mark Webber.
Although, the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has a strong lead over the defending champion, however, the veteran German driver is not feeling upset and is positively aiming to make a strong comeback in the races ahead in order to fight for the
title.
“The one who is leading is always the one everyone else is after,” said Vettel. “I think he is in a good position but we still have a lot of races to go.”
In addition, he said that the present circumstances really suit their car and they hope to achieve good results in the races ahead.
“I think it's a better position, or a better Championship in that regard; to be able to catch rather than if you only have two cars that work properly and the first four are always given,” he added.
Besides, he said that the championship fight is still open and he is ready to deliver his best in the remaining nine races of the current season after the ongoing mid-season break.
“We still have a lot of races to go and I think we are very hungry to come out fast at the end of the season,” he added.
The two-time world champion has been deemed as one of the most talented and skilful drivers in the field. Moreover, he surely stands amongst the list of the most favourite contenders in this year’s title chase.
Let’s see whether he will be able to defend his title in the approaching races or not.
