Sebastian Vettel edges Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso to lead third practice session of German GPThe third and final free practice session of the 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix is over in Nurburgring and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has taken the top position in the times chart with a last minute aggression. The German driver waited in the pits for the first half of the session while other drivers used their hard compound tyres. Vettel forced his way through the racing peck in the final moments of the session and clocked a fastest time of 1 minute and 30.916 seconds. His teammate Mark Webber also tried hard on the softer compound Pirelli tyres to beat Vettel’s time but ended second on the chart with a fastest lap time of 1 minute and 31.049 seconds. The Aussie driver also waited in the pits and only used soft tyres in the final moments to produce his fastest time.Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso came third who showed a lot of speed in the opening half an hour of the session but ended third on the table behind the Red Bull duo.Spaniard’s teammate Felipe Massa ended seventh on the table almost two seconds slower than Vettel.McLaren’s duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button improved its performance from Friday and finished the final practice session in fourth and fifth positions respectively. Both the drivers used hard tyres to post their times but were more than one second slower than their final times on the table. Although their times are not comparable to the ones posted by the Red Bull duo but still they will have a go at the pole position if rain interrupts the qualifiers.Mercedes’ duo Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher managed sixth and ninth positions on the final standings and will hope to catch a podium which will be on offer if rain pours down on Sunday.Force India’s Adrian Sutil finished eighth and Williams’ Pastor Maldonado completed the top ten.The qualifiers of the German Grand Prix will be contested on Saturday and rain is expected to make the prospects more interesting.
