Sebastian Vettel expects Felipe Massa, Michael Schumacher to make a comeback
The 2010 Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has said that he is expecting Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher to perform at their best and join the top-running drivers for the championship run in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
In 2010, both Massa and Schumacher were unable to trouble the top-running drivers. The fans were expecting a lot from both of them in the season as Schumacher had returned to the sport after a gap of 3 years while Massa returned after missing half of the
2009 Formula 1 season due to an almost fatal accident during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“Massa didn't have a good season but no one should underestimate him; it's not so long ago that he was really strong. I think neither of them has forgotten how to drive. Schumacher's history is too great to write him off, and Nico Rosberg has also showed
us his strength,” Vettel told the media.
Sebastian Vettel had to battle it out against Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and his teammate Mark Webber for the 2010 title.
Both Massa and Schumacher claimed that the Bridgestone tyres in the 2010 Formula 1 season did not suite their respective driving styles.
However, since Pirelli is going to be the lone tyre supplying company of the 2011 season, it is expected that Schumacher and Massa will be back to their best.
Other than that, Vettel is expecting a tough challenge from his rivals from the previous season as well and it will be interesting to see how the top-running teams perform at the first race of the new Formula 1 season that is expected to take place on 27
March, 2011 in Australia.
“Alonso for sure, and Hamilton is without question one of the best drivers,” said Vettel.
Vettel will also face a stiff competition from his teammate Mark Webber as both of them had a wonderful season in 2010 and they kept challenging each other at different venues.
