Sebastian Vettel expects tough fight in remainder of 2012 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is expecting a tough fight with his major rivals in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season and insisted that he needs to push harder to claim his third championship title.
Vettel is presently leading the drivers’ championship with 240 points after claiming his fourth consecutive victory in the Indian Grand Prix held at Buddh International Circuit during the last weekend. Moreover, he is now 13 points ahead of his main rival,
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who had remained at the top of the standings for quite a long time in this season.
Although, the veteran German driver has become the most favourite title contender, but he has said that the competition is still very intense amongst the top three competitors. Therefore, he has asserted that he is not taking anything easy and has insisted
his team to keep on making the significant preparations for the remainder of the season in order to maintain their lead in the championship.
“It will be tough but it has been like that all season long, so I don't expect the situation to ease up,” Vettel told the Press Association. “We know we still have to go full throttle, and of course it helps to finish the races ahead of him [Alonso].
To understand that you don't have to be a genius.”
It will be important to mention that the two-time world champion has shown concern about the reliability of his car as he faced some issues in a couple of races in the season until now due to which he lost some crucial points.
Nonetheless, he has said that he is eagerly looking forward to perform well in the Abu Dhabi GP which is to be held at Yas Marina Circuit this weekend and is targeting to claim his fifth consecutive victory.
“So for this weekend in Abu Dhabi the same level of concentration and skill is what is needed if we are to stay in front because with three races to go a comfortable lead is an elusive thing,” he said.
