Sebastian Vettel expresses concerns about the season’s unpredictability – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has shown concerns about the unpredictable nature of 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
Vettel secured an impressive third podium finish in the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit after taking a start from 4th grid slot.
Presently, he is at third place in the drivers’ championship with 100 points. Besides, he is 16 points behind his teammate, Mark Webber and 8 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren. Additionally, he is 29 points behind the leading driver, Fernando Alonso
of Ferrari.
Although, he has been considered as one of the most favourite contenders in this year’s championship battle, however, he has expressed that nothing can be predicted about the season ahead as there have been seven different winners in the first seven races.
“At the moment it is still very competitive,” Vettel said. “There are a number of drivers performing on a similar level, as the results show. There are three of us within 29 points - after nine races. I think that the drivers who stand out right now are
Fernando - he is one of the most complete drivers - and Lewis, who is very quick even though he was a bit unlucky in Silverstone. But then again there are plenty of others. Michael is still in the game, as I don't think that he's lost it.”
In addition, he said that he is positively looking forward to come up strong in the German GP which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22. Even though, he said that he will have a pressure of home race in Germany, nonetheless, he said that he is expecting
to get a sound support from his fans which will definitely boost up his confidence.
The defending champions are currently leading the constructors’ championship with 216 points and they are 64 points ahead of Ferrari which have emerged as their main rival after the preceding race.
Though there are only two drivers who have claimed two race victories in the season until now, nevertheless, it is expected that the dust will settle down in the approaching races and the favourite teams and drivers will eventually emerge.
