Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has extended his contract with his current team until the end of the 2015 Formula 1 season which has put an end to the speculations regarding his move to Ferrari.
Vettel had an agreement with the Milton Keynes based squad until 2014 on certain conditions. During the last year, he was surrounded by a lot of speculations that he might join the Scarlet team at the end of his deal with the defending champions.
However, it has recently been confirmed that the German driver has extended his agreement with Red Bull until the end of 2015 which has completely discharged all the rumours about his move to the Maranello based team.
“Infiniti Red Bull Racing is happy to confirm that World Champion Sebastian Vettel has extended his multi-year contract with the team until the end of 2015,” read a statement. “A previous member of the Red Bull Junior squad, Sebastian first drove for Red
Bull Racing in 2009. During his Formula One career, the 25-year-old has achieved 29 wins, 51 podiums and 39 pole positions. He is the current Formula One World Champion and also a triple World Champion, having retained the title since he first won it in 2010.”
At present, the 25-year-old is leading the drivers’ championship with 132 points. In addition, he is ahead of his main rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. He has already secured three race victories and two podium finishes in the season so far and has impressed
everyone with his amazing performance.
On the other hand, Vettel’s teammate, Mark Webber’s race seat for the next season is yet to be confirmed by the team and there have been many reports suggesting that the Aussie may leave the sport at the end of this season. However, Webber has not expressed
anything in this regard and asserted that he is just focussing to perform well in this season.
According to some speculations, Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus may join Red Bull in the next season as Webber’s replacement. It will be interesting to see who drives alongside the three-time world champion in the coming season.
