Sebastian Vettel feels content with his performance in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is feeling contended with his performance in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Vettel won the Monaco GP during the preceding year. However, in this season, he could only secure fourth place finish behind the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, after setting off from ninth grid position in the race.
On the other hand, his teammate, Mark Webber claimed an impressive victory after starting the race from the front of the grid. Furthermore, it will be quite interesting to mention that this is Australian driver’s second victory in Monte Carlo.
The two-time world champion said that he used different strategy in the race as compared to Webber. Even though, he could not be able to secure a podium finish, nevertheless, he said that he is pleased with his performance as he managed to finish amongst
the top five after setting off from ninth place in the grid.
“Mark raced his race, I raced my race,” said Vettel. “In the end we had opposite strategies, he started on the super soft and I started on the softs and then the other way around at the end so as I said obviously he was pushing his race I was pushing my
race. For me it was important to use the couple of laps I was in the lead and we gained around seven or eight seconds so I can be quite happy with that but obviously in the end it's difficult to pass and gain some more places.”
At present, the defending champion, along with his teammate, are at second place in the drivers’ championship with 73 points and they are just 3 points behind the leading driver, Alonso.
Meanwhile, Red Bull are currently leading the constructors’ championship with 146 points and they are 38 points ahead of their main rival, McLaren.
Over and above, they are trying their best to make the essential developments and the substantial preparations in order to improve the pace of their car in the forthcoming races so as to defend their championship title.
