Sebastian Vettel feels disappointed with third podium finish in the Hungarian GP – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has expressed disappointment over his third podium finish in the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix and said that he wanted a little bit more at the Hungaroring.
Vettel performed impressively well in the qualifying of the Hungarian GP and secured second grid slot behind Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes. However, he failed to maintain his position in the race and was overtaken by Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus towards the end
of the race and eventually came third. Although, he tried his best to pass the Finnish driver, he could only secure third podium finish ahead of his teammate, Mark Webber.
The German driver said that it was very difficult for him to defend his second place in the race due to his front wing damage. Moreover, he stated that he lost some crucial time in the pits which made it even more difficult for him to fight for the second
place. Besides, he stated that even though he tried his best until the very end of the race, he could only come third.
“It was not the best race,” Vettel admitted. “It was difficult but I was able to defend second. Lewis pulled in, we thought we had a little bit more on the soft, but the rear tyres appeared to fall apart pretty quickly.”
“I lost a bit and came out behind Jenson, which was crucial, and as I tried to get past I damaged my front wing which didn't help. After that I managed to get past, but it took a long time and I lost a bit of speed,” he said.
“I did all I could but surely we wanted a little bit more today,” he added.
At present, the youngest triple world champion is leading the drivers’ championship with 172 points. Moreover, he has a strong lead over his major rivals, Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Furthermore, he has scored four race victories and three
podium finishes in the season so far.
It will be interesting to see how he performs in the approaching races and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
