Sebastian Vettel feels excited about 2012 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver, Sebastian Vettel has called the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix as the highlight of the current season and said that he is feeling really excited about it.
Vettel scored an amazing victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore during the last season and considers it as one of his most favourite tracks of all time as he really likes its overall environment.
“Singapore is one of the highlights on the calendar, because the atmosphere of a night race is amazing,” said Vettel. “I also like it because the track is really great to race on - which is partly to do with the fact that we race anticlockwise there.”
Furthermore, he said that Singapore is a wonderful city where everything is neat and clean. In addition, he said that after spending some time in European, he is eagerly looking forward to the next race which is very different as compared to the grands prix
until now.
“Singapore is a fascinating city to visit and everything seems to be extremely clean and tidy. We all stay on European time for the weekend and because the race doesn't start until 8pm, most of the drivers tend to get up around 2pm - it's pretty unusual,”
he added.
Although, the veteran German driver has not dominated in this season as he did in the preceding one in which he won 11 races. Even so, he has still been deemed as one of the most competitive title contender for this year’s championship.
At present, he is standing at 4th place in the drivers’ championship with 140 points. Moreover, he is ahead of his teammate, Mark Webber and is just a point behind Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Even though, he is 39 points behind the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, nonetheless, he is aiming to close the gap in the upcoming races.
It will be important to mention that the Milton Keynes based team could not score even a single point in the Italian GP due to which they have lost some crucial points in the championship. Nevertheless, their hopes are high and it will be thrilling to see
how they show up in the races ahead.
