Sebastian Vettel feels frustrated after facing gearbox issue in the 2013 British GP – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is feeling very frustrated after facing gearbox issue in the 2013 British Grand Prix due to which he lost some crucial points in the championship fight.
Vettel performed convincingly well in the qualifying at Silverstone circuit and successfully managed to secure third grid position. Afterwards, he took a magnificent start and was leading the race after Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton,
faced a tyre puncture. However, he failed to score any points because of the gearbox failure. On the other hand, his teammate, Mark Webber delivered a remarkable performance and secured an incredible third podium finish after taking a start from 4th
grid slot.
The triple world champion expressed immense disappointment over the incident. Nevertheless, he didn’t blame his team for the gearbox issue and expressed that they must work hard for the German GP in order to strike back well in
the championship fight.
“We had a gearbox issue, I lost fifth gear so when I was up-shifting in to sixth, fifth said goodbye and damaged rest of gearbox,” Vettel said. “We just lost race by a couple of laps but there's nothing I could have done better.
So it's always frustrating but I'm not blaming guys or team; these things always happen, you never want them to happen but fortunately we've got next race coming up next week so we can try and do it again.”
“We obviously tried to avoid kerbs as much as we could and fortunately we didn't have any damage on both cars,” he added.
Presently, he is leading the drivers’ championship with 132 points and is ahead of his main rival, Fernando Alonso who has efficiently reduced the lead by 15 points after securing an inspiring second podium finish in the British
GP.
The German driver has performed tremendously well in the season until now and has scored three race wins and two podium finishes.
The competition is going to be even tougher in the forthcoming races. It will be exciting to see whether the 25-year-old will be able to defend his title or not.
