Sebastian Vettel feels great after securing pole for 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel feels great and praises his team for their efforts after securing this year’s first pole position for 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir.
Red Bull have been striving to find out the full potential of RB8, however, their endeavours prove out to be quite fruitful at the qualifying of Bahrain GP in which the veteran German driver claimed the pole.
The two-time world champion, Vettel said that they have been trying their best to make the necessary advancements and substantial preparations for the approaching races after struggling in the last couple of races. Moreover, he said that his performance
in the qualifying of fourth race is the result of the team’s hard work.
“It obviously feels great and I think this one I completely owe to the team and to the guys,” Vettel said. “It wasn't an easy start to the season for us, surely a lot of expectations but I think more than anything it's what we expect from ourselves. We didn't
match our expectations and we've been extremely busy working on the car, trimming here and there, finding the perfect solution and the right way to go.”
Furthermore, the defending champion said that he is expecting a strong tussle amongst the top teams in the next race. Nevertheless, he said that he is quite hopeful for the upcoming race after securing his first pole position of this season.
“I'm looking forward to the start of the race and then I think it will be pretty tight to be honest,” said Vettel.
Besides, he said that he feels very comfortable with the enhancement been made in the car and thinks that it will surely help in improving its pace on track after the last couple of races.
Vettel is standing on fifth position in the drivers’ championship so far with 28 points. He secured second podium finish in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
Conversely, in the second and third race at Sepang he could not be able to secure even a single point while finished at fifth position in Shanghai. Nonetheless, after taking the pole at Sakhir, he is quite positive for the race ahead.
