Sebastian Vettel feels motivated about the season ahead – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is very much motivated about the 2012 Formula 1 season ahead and is not worried about his position in the championship at present.
Vettel is currently standing at 3rd place in the drivers’ championship with 122 points and has only been able to score one grand prix victory in the season so far which is quite strange as he completely dominated with 11 wins in the preceding
year.
Nevertheless, he has said that he is not feeling upset over his lack of performance in this season as compared to the last one. Moreover, he asserted that he is definitely going to fight very hard for the title like he did in 2010 in which he won the championship
in the last race and became the youngest title holder in the history of the sport.
“The most important race to lead the championship is the last one; we had that experience in 2010,” Vettel said. “I think if you compare this year to any other year - at least for myself - then probably 2010 is close, but equally I think we did a lot more
mistakes in 2010 during the first part of the season. Myself, the team, we lost a lot more points than this year so far.”
In addition, he said that they have only struggled in two out of the first eleven races in the current season in which they could not attain the desired results.
“I think this year there are probably only two races standing out where we should have scored more points,” he added.
Additionally, he said that they have got the potential to claim the drivers’ as well as constructors’ titles as he and his teammate, Mark Webber has performed amazingly well in the season until now.
Even though, he said that the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has a strong lead over them, nonetheless, he expressed that they are not fazed about it and are positively aiming to win the championship battle this year.
Besides, he said that he is eagerly waiting to take part in the Belgian GP which will be held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on the coming Sunday.
