Sebastian Vettel feels pleased with second podium finish in 2013 Monaco GP – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is very happy and pleased with his second podium finish in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix held in Monte Carlo.
Vettel performed amazingly well in the qualifying at Circuit de Monaco and managed to secure third grid slot for the race behind Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. He delivered a convincing performance on the race day and successfully secured
an inspiring second podium finish.
Furthermore, he congratulated Rosberg who claimed his second race win and admired the performance of his compatriot. Besides, he said that the 27-year-old did a very good job in the last race and managed his tyres really well to score victory.
“Overall I'm very happy and pleased with the result,” Vettel said. “We know that it's very difficult to overtake here. Congratulations to Nico, he did a very good job, a very controlled race. I think he had pace and tyres to respond whenever we tried to
get a little bit closer.”
Additionally, he said that he took a fantastic start in the race, but could not find any room to pass the drivers in the front. He asserted that he could have overtaken Hamilton and Rosberg in the opening laps, however he could not find the necessary space
because of heavy traffic on the first corner.
“The start of the race was a fantastic start but no room! I think I could have gone past both Mercedes but didn't have room so had to lift and then Mark came and it was tight in to first corner,” he said.
Nevertheless, he said that they are quite happy with their result in the preceding race.
“I think we can be happy with the result,” he added.
The three-time world champion is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 107 points and is ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus. He has scored two podium finishes and two race victories in the season until now. It will be thrilling to see how he performs
in the forthcoming races and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
