Sebastian Vettel feels privileged by Ferrari’s comments – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is feeling privileged by the comments of Ferrari that he can drive for them in future.
Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali said that Vettel and their driver, Fernando Alonso can become teammates while the Spaniard also expressed that he has no issue with the veteran German driver.
Meanwhile, there have been many speculations that Vettel may join the Scarlet team after the next season. However, the defending champion showed his commitment with Red Bull and said that he is very much happy with his team. Nevertheless, he said that he
respects the comments of the Italian team.
In addition, he said that at present, he is focusing on the season ahead and aiming to make his position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“I'm flattered obviously, I've always said that Ferrari is a great team with a great history, a great tradition in Formula One in particular. But as I said I'm very happy where I am at the moment,” he said. “As I said I'm flattered; it's very nice to hear
that. I respect Ferrari a lot, I respect Fernando a lot so I see it as a compliment if they take that in to account, but for now as you asked does it unsettle me? No, and for now the focus for now is entirely on this season.”
Presently, he is standing at third place in the drivers’ championship with 85 points. Moreover, he is 6 points ahead of his teammate, Mark Webber and just 1 point behind Alonso.
Even though, the defending champions struggled with the aerodynamics of RB8 during the start of the season. However, he secured an incredible second podium finish in the first race after starting from 6th grid position.
Conversely, he could not score even a single point in the second race as he had a collision with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT. Nonetheless, he took an amazing victory in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir after claiming the pole position.
Over and above, after securing fourth place finishes in the last two grands prix, he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
