Sebastian Vettel feels proud after scoring his first ever victory in Canada – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver, Sebastian Vettel, has said that he is feeling proud after claiming his first ever victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on June 9, 2013.
Vettel delivered an amazing performance in the qualifying of the Canadian Grand Prix and successfully managed to secure his third pole position of the season. Later,
he took a magnificent start in the race and maintained his lead until the end to score his third win of this year.
It will be important to mention that it is the first ever victory of the Milton Keynes based squad in Canada after which the German driver is feeling immensely
delightful.
The three-time world champion has said that they had some close races in Montreal in the past, but couldn’t win there. Nevertheless, he asserted that he is feeling
proud to bring his team its maiden win in Canada this year.
“We've had good races here before but it didn't come together for the win,” he said. “Two years ago I was very close and I lost it in the last lap. It was a great
feeling today and I had a great car today from the team. We were able to pull away from the rest of the field and I was really able to enjoy every lap. It was difficult at stages with the traffic but overall it was great.”
“It was a very important race for us to win and finally we've got it off the list so I'm very proud of that,” he added.
Presently, the 25-year-old is leading the drivers’ championship with 132 points and is ahead of his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who came second in the
preceding race. He has performed incredibly well in the season so far. He has scored three race victories, two podium finishes and two fourth place finishes in the first seven races.
The competition is going to be even tougher in the season ahead. It will be exciting to see how the youngest triple world champion performs in the season ahead
and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
