Sebastian Vettel feels very happy with the reliability of RB9 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is very happy with the reliability of RB9 after the first pre-season test held at Jerez circuit in Spain.
Vettel covered 198 laps in two days at Jerez. He seemed really comfortable behind the wheel of his new car and expressed that he is really pleased with the team’s development. Furthermore, he asserted that they are not concerned with what their opponents
are doing and are aiming to make their own progress.
“I'm pretty happy,” he said. “The car didn't have any problems in terms of reliability, so I'm very, very happy. We could do a lot of laps every day and about the performance we cannot really say anything. We don't know what the other people are doing and
at this stage we do not really care that much.”
Besides, he said that they are hoping to create more profound understanding about their car in the next two tests in order to come up stronger right from the start of the season.
“If you keep your eyes open you might understand a little bit more about the others, but for us at this stage it is all about ourselves to understand our car and work on reliability and try to cover as many laps as possible,” he added.
It will be important to note that the Milton Keynes based squad faced few difficulties during the last year’s pre-season testing programme. However, they made some remarkable in-season developments in their car after which the veteran German driver strike
back amazingly well during the last few grands prix and won his third consecutive drivers’ championship. In addition, he became the youngest triple world champion in the history of the sport.
Even though, he had a very tough competition with his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who fought really well right until the end of the season. Nonetheless, he secured a tremendous sixth place finish in the season finale held at Interlagos in Brazil
and successfully won the title in the end by just 3 points from the Spaniard.
Let’s see how the triple world champion comes up in this season and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
