Sebastian Vettel fine with Mark Webber’s 2012 deal with Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
The reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has claimed that he is fine with the deal Red Bull Racing secured with his teammate, Mark Webber.
He stated that he does not even know about the reports released regarding his teammate for the 2012 Formula 1 season as he is okay with his team’s decision.
“For sure? I didn't know. Everything stays the same, so no need to get used to someone else,” Vettel told the media.
The team has been struggling to manage Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel as both of the drivers are not the best of friends anymore since the 2010 Formula 1 season.
Both the drivers were competing for the drivers’ title and despite the fact that Mark Webber led the championship throughout most of the 2010 Formula 1 season, the team gave more preference to the German driver according to Webber.
Despite all these problems, RBR decided to keep both of its drivers for another season and in 2011, the team did not face such problems until the British Grand Prix.
At the British Grand Prix, the team asked Webber to slow down behind his teammate but since both of the drivers are once again competing for the title, the Australian driver decided to go against his team’s orders and catch up on Vettel for the second place.
Nevertheless, Helmut Marko, RBR’s driver manager stated that the two drivers cannot be friends anymore.
“They will never be friends, but it's a good working relationship between them,” he said.
Either way, the team is currently leading both the constructors’ and drivers’ standings quite comfortably and if they keep performing consistently, then no one would be able to defeat them in the championship this year.
McLaren and Ferrari are performing at their best since the past couple of races and since RBR have not been able to win since the past two races, it seems that the championship still is uncertain and the next couple of races are going to be very important.
