Sebastian Vettel happy with Red Bull’s practice dominance - Formula 1 news
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel proved to be the fastest driver on the field during the first couple of practice sessions in Australia on Friday, March 15, 2013. He
clocked the best time of the day with team-mate Mark Webber not far behind.
The reigning world champion was delighted with the progress his team made and said, “Overall it was a good day for us. It was pretty seamless and there was no trouble
with the car. After all the mileage of testing, it was fun to be out there - this circuit doesn’t get easier, it’s a good challenge. The soft tyre doesn’t last too long, but the harder tyre is a decent race tyre.”
After the end of the final preseason test in Barcelona, Red Bull did not seem quite happy with their pace. Due to this, some Formula 1 pundits claimed that the
current champions will end up struggling in Australia.
However, things went perfectly for both Red Bull drivers, as they managed to post some decent times on different setups. Judging by that, they will be able to score
some useful points in the race, but Vettel does not want to make any predictions, as he believes that the weather will come into play during qualifying and race.
The youngest triple world champion stated, “The weather should be quite changeable tomorrow and, as we can’t predict how much that will impact the tyres and car
balance, we need to be ready to change things. Today was a good day and the balance was good, but we need to be ready for what’s coming up.”
Although Red Bull had a productive day in Melbourne, rival teams are not far behind and will definitely pose a serious threat in the next couple of days.
Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso showed some great pace and looked quite confident at the end of the session. They seem to be the real threat to
Red Bull, as their race speed has always been impressive.
Even when the Italian squad failed to deliver in qualifying last year, they always had he speed to bounce back in the race, which counts more than anything else.
