Sebastian Vettel insists Red Bull Racing need to stay focussed – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that they need to stay focussed in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season despite gaining 6 points lead over Fernando Alonso of Ferrari after Korean Grand Prix.
Vettel has performed tremendously well in the season until now and has been considered as one of the most favourite title contenders. Moreover, he is currently leading the drivers’ championship after claiming his third consecutive win in the preceding race
held at Korea International Circuit.
Even though, he is now ahead of Alonso who had been at the top of the drivers’ rankings for most of the time in the season so far. However, he believes that they still need to work hard to defend their championship title and insisted that they must make
the essential preparations for the remaining four grands prix so as to attain competitive results.
“What I think is important is that we have to keep things simple,” Vettel was quoted saying on the official Formula 1 website. “That means that we have to concentrate on ourselves - because we cannot influence what others are doing and starting mind games
now about what others will do in the next races is a waste of energy.”
In addition, he praised his team’s progress until now and admired the overall efforts of all the members. Nevertheless, he asserted that the competition is very tough and nothing can be predicted about the forthcoming races. Therefore, he said that they
must push hard in the season ahead to win the championship title.
“It is obvious this season that things can change quite fast, so there is no guarantee that luck will stay on our side. So ‘keep on pushing’ should be our motto for the last four races,” he added.
The Milton Keynes based team is presently leading the constructors’ championship and has a strong lead over their major rivals which include Ferrari and McLaren. Nonetheless, they are still not taking anything easy and are looking forward to come up even
stronger in the upcoming races.
Let’s see how the two-time world champion and his teammate, Mark Webber perform in the approaching races.
