Sebastian Vettel insists his motivation to win will never diminish – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel has stated that even after winning three consecutive F1 championships, his determination to win will never be diminished.
“As a team member I want us to be as successful in 2013 as we have been this year and the two previous years,” Vettel said. “And personally, I never had to simulate motivation - that is part of my nature. Sure, right now it is nice to savour the title win
and everything that goes with it, but what stays in your memory much more than anything else are the steps that got you there: the nervousness on the grid at the first race, the stress when it didn't work out as planned, the podiums.”
Vettel told that the 2012 F1 season was very tough in terms of their car but still they never stopped believing that they can win which is very difficult to do. He said that there are many experts who keep speculating throughout the season but you do not
have to let that get to you, whether they are negative or positive comments. He added that you have to focus on your driving and not on what other people are doing. The Red Bull driver is of the opinion that one of the major factors of his victory was his
fight for every single point.
Ever since the fight for the championship began between Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Vettel, F1 critics kept saying that Alonso was the better driver and deserved to win. A survey conducted after the end of the season revealed that the bosses of all F1
teams considered Alonso a better driver over Vettel. Vettel has already told that it does not bother him. In fact, he said that he respects and admires his rival.
It is true that Alonso did not have a quick car like Red Bull’s but was still leading the championship in the beginning whereas Vettel was struggling. However, Vettel took the lead way from him which he maintained over the last races of the season. Vettel
became the youngest triple champion by beating the Ferrari driver by three points.
