Sebastian Vettel insists that Nico Rosberg is a driver to beat in Mercedes – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that Nico Rosberg of Mercedes is a driver to beat as compared to his teammate, Michael Schumacher.
Vettel insists that the Rosberg is surely in a better position in the drivers’ championship as compared to Schumacher who has retired in six out of first eleven races. Moreover, he said that although the seven-time world champion has secured an impressive
third podium finish in the European Grand Prix. However, his compatriot in the Brackley based team is still very much ahead as he secured an amazing victory in the Chinese GP after claiming his first ever pole position.
The defending champion has said that there have been a lot of rumours and speculations which state that the record championship holder is facing immense difficulties behind the wheel of his car. Nonetheless, he said that the legendary driver has lost nothing
and has proven his greatness many a times in the current season so far.
“On the one hand you can say that Michael has forgotten nothing and is not struggling as he has proven many times,” the Red Bull racer told Sport1.
Contrarily, he said that they have always considered Rosberg as their rival in Mercedes as he has shown some remarkable performances in the season until now.
“But Nico has brought some incredibly good performances and has regularly been the reference (at Mercedes). There is no way you can talk around that,” the two time world champion said.
At present, Mercedes are standing at fifth position in the constructors’ championship with 106 points. Besides, they are ahead of Sauber and are behind Ferrari.
On the other hand, Red Bull are leading the rankings with 246 points and have a strong lead over all the contenders.
Meanwhile, Vettel is at third place in the drivers’ standings with 122 points and Rosberg is at sixth position with 77 points.
Over and above, the rivalry amongst all the contenders has been extremely tough in the current season and the teams are busy in making the considerable preparations in order to come up stronger in the races ahead. Let’s see how the German drivers compete
