Sebastian Vettel is feeling positive after Mugello test – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is feeling positive as the team made progress after the three-day in-season test held at Mugello circuit this week.
The two-time world champion, Vettel set the second best time of 1 minute and 21.267 seconds and completed 106 laps on Thursday. Moreover, he said that the last two days of testing have proved out to be quite beneficial for them as they have been able to
gather some essential data regarding the updates.
“It's been a useful couple of days and I've enjoyed the track a lot,” he said. “As usual we now have a lot of data to get through and that will take some time. We tried a few things and the results look encouraging; it's always difficult to tell whether
we improved and by how much, but we got some good laps and some good information.”
He secured an impressive second podium finish in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia after starting from 6th grid position. Conversely, in the second race held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, he could not score even
a single point as he had collision with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT.
Subsequently, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, he came 5th after he set off from 11th place in the grid.
Over and above, he claimed his first victory of this season after securing pole in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. Furthermore, the veteran German driver is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 53 points.
Nonetheless, he expressed that they are not as confident as they were in the previous year mainly due to the reason that there have been four different winners in the first four races who ran on completely different cars’ setups.
It will be important to mention that the defending champions faced issues in RB8 on the last day of the final pre-season test held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona due to the updates. Furthermore, they have struggled to take a strong start in this season.
Nevertheless, they are quite optimistic about the races ahead as they have been making the substantial developments and significant preparations in order to improve the pace of their car.
