Sebastian Vettel looks forward to perform well in his home race at Nurburgring – Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has expressed that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the 2013 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Nurburgring this weekend.
Vettel performed remarkably well in the qualifying of the British GP at Silverstone circuit and secured third grid slot. Later, on the race day, he took a magnificent start and seemed really strong. However, he was encountered
with a gearbox issue because of which he was retired and remained unable to score even a single point for his team.
The German driver has said that he is not feeling upset over his retirement in the preceding race and is confidently eying to strike back in his home race. In addition, he said that he has always enjoyed racing at his home circuit
in his autosport career so far. Besides, he expressed immense gratitude towards the German fans for their love and support.
“(The Nurburgring is) one of the longer tracks, and one I know very well from when I was racing in the junior series in Formula BMW and Formula 3. I’ve always had a lot of fun on this track. In 2009, I made it to the podium for
the first time in Formula One, when we got a one-two, and it was a fantastic experience thanks to the German fans,” he said.
Additionally, he said that the fast corners at Nurburgring make the race more interesting for all the drivers. He also stated that he will try his best to come up to the expectations of his fans in the approaching race.
“The fast corners are exciting as well: the Mullenbach loop, the Michael-Schumacher-S, and the section following the ADVAN arch, shortly before the chicane,” the three-time world champion added.
Presently, the 26-year-old is leading the drivers’ championship with 132 points. Despite facing retirement in the last race, he has a strong lead over his main rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. He has scored three race wins, two
podiums and two fourth-place finishes in the season so far.
It will be thrilling to see how he performs in the forthcoming races and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
