Sebastian Vettel might soon be seen in red outfit
The Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo believes to see the Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel driving for the Scuderia in a couple of years.
The end of the 2010 season saw the driver embrace the first championship of his career. At the age of 23 years and nine months, Vettel has become the youngest world champions ever in Formula One’s history and also stands tall as the only German, after the
legendary Michael Schumacher to have won the world title. Although the driver has proclaimed time and again that he is happy with his current team, Red Bull Racing, yet he has not even denied the fact that his ultimate dream is to drive with the mighty Italian
squad, Ferrari. He said that like any other racer in the Formula One, he also wishes to know once how it feels to team up with the legendary names like McLaren and Ferrari. However, he admitted that this is yet a long term plan and so far he is happy with
the Austrian team. While talking about his team, Vettel said, "I am a part of the Big Red Bull family."
However, the Ferrari President insisted that it is not very far off when the racing world will see Vettel driving for the red outfit. Di Montezemolo, while talking to the media earlier today said that the German’s tie with the Italian outfit would be "special"
although he does not know when this will happen but he is sure it will.
He explained saying, "Sebastian is fast, smart and young… Sooner or later he will be driving a red car."
At present, Ferrari has two senior drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, while it is commonly believed that the team is not much interested in retaining Massa for a very long time. This clearly shows that that the team might pull Vettel in the team
to replace Massa, the next year or so.
At the same time, the Red Bull Racing has also very clearly declared that it will not let the driver go away that easily. Although, the team is a new one on the track as compared to the other legendary names like McLaren or Ferrari, but only in the past
six years the team has been able to prove its dominance on the track and seems very promising in the upcoming years also.
The team owner Dietrich Mateschitz, said earlier this season, "It's a once in a life-time dream to drive for Ferrari but we will make leaving a difficult decision for him(Vettel).”
