Sebastian Vettel not bothering about 2014 team-mate – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel has claimed that he is absolutely not bothered about who will be partnering him at Red Bull during the 2014 Formula 1 season.
The reigning world champion has been dominant over the past several years whereas his team-mate Mark Webber has been unable to match him on most of the times for one reason or another.
As a result, the Australian driver has decided to quit Formula 1 racing by the end of this season, which means that Red Bull will have to find an ideal driver to fill the vacant position. At the moment, three drivers are vying for the seat with Kimi Raikkonen
being the most experienced of all.
On the other hand, Toro Rosso drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne are also looking to make a strong impression in the remaining half of the current season in order to impress the Red Bull bosses.
Although no one has been confirmed to replace Webber yet, Vettel believes that nothing will change for him regardless of the fact that who partners him during the next season.
According to the German driver, “Whoever it is, in the end it doesn't matter. I know him (Raikkonen) very well, and get on with him well.”
Judging by that statement, it is clear that the triple world champion will not stop a former world champion to be his partner in the team. In fact, it will allow him an opportunity to silence his critics by doing well against a legendary driver.
However, the Red Bull driver is currently focused on delivering positive results this year. He is in the lead at the moment, but claimed that he never looks at the championship standings.
He added, “I try to ignore the score. There are still a lot of races to go. A long, long way. We are trying to be on the attack. It doesn't take a genius to know that you get more points than the others when you win races. So if we do this more often than
the competition, it looks good for the championship.”
Vettel has never been able to win a race in Hungary, where all of the teams will be headed for the next round of the season. He will be looking to change that this time around to cement his place at the top.
