Sebastian Vettel not thinking about the title at the Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has recently stated that the team still has a long way to go before sealing the 2011 world championship.
He added that he is not thinking about the drivers’ title at the Singapore Grand Prix despite the fact that a victory this weekend will confirm his 2011 title.
“So far we haven't won anything. We are in a good position but still have some way to go. We have to race and do our normal job, try to achieve our best. It is one of the most difficult tracks for cars and drivers; it is a long way to the chequered flag,”
Vettel told reporters in Singapore.
He claims that he is planning on pulling off a normal performance and his vision for his 2011 run is not going to change at all for the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. He further added that he is still aiming for the same goals and pushing for the same achievements
this weekend as well.
His drivers’ championship might get confirmed this weekend but the constructors’ standings is not going to be secured until at least the next couple of races.
“Obviously a lot of people talk about it (the championship), but certain things have to happen. It reminds me of the situation we faced in Abu Dhabi last year, where people came up every two/three minutes giving another option, what is possible out of 1,467
options,” he said.
Other than that, Vettel claims that the team’s goal during the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season was to defend the title successfully this year and that is what they did with complete dominance.
The team has really made its mark after their 2011 performance and it seems that they are here to stay as a top running team at least for the next couple of years if their management and drivers’ line-up does not change much anytime soon.
