Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing believes 2012 championship title is still far – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing won the Japanese Grand Prix held at the Suzuka circuit, impressively whereas the championship leader Fernando Alonso retired attaining no point in the championship.
The victory at Japanese GP leaves him with 190 championship points thus decreasing the gap from the championship leader to only 4 points. He said that they would have to work hard in order to attain the championship title. Besides, he believes that there
are ups and downs in the sport therefore no one can say anything with certainty.
Vettel said, “Obviously it was an important step today but we are still a long way from the championship. If you look at the last couple of races since we started back in Spa after the summer break it was very much up and down.”
The Red Bull driver told he does not know what happened to Alonso’s car but such incidents are normal over the circuit. He added that no driver expects that such incident may happen to oneself. Besides, he added that one should keep preparing for the upcoming
race because of the uncertainty involved in the sport.
Additionally, the German driver remains satisfied with his start and told he did not know anything about the accident. It all happened as a surprise and when he looked behind, he only knew that there was an accident and a Ferrari car has been eliminated
from the race. When he looked at the tower he saw Felipe Massa, the other Ferrari drive, racing, thus he knew that Alonso has retired from the race.
“I saw a Ferrari was out and halfway through the race when I was looking at the tower to see where the others were I saw that it was Felipe that was still racing so I assumed that Fernando was not racing anymore,” he added.
Furthermore, he added that their car performed as expected and it was responding as his dream car. He praised the balance of the car and said that it was mainly due to the balance, that they were able to perform convincingly at the Japanese circuit.
