Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing lauds team for back-to-back titles – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing has become the youngest driver ever to have won back-to-back world championships in Formula 1 history.
The German was crowned as the world championship of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Suzuka circuit on Sunday, October 9.
Vettel had been dominating the season with his flawless wins and after the recently held Singapore Grand Prix, he just was a point away from clinching the 2011 title.
He was consistently seen topping the drivers’ championship and his race strategies always proved to be the best ones.
At Suzuka, Vettel finished at the third place after a close and fierce battle with Jenson Button of McLaren who won the race. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso put up an amazing show by securing a second place at the podium after starting 5th at
the grid.
Even though the race was won by the Brit from McLaren, it was Vettel’s day to celebrate.
When asked about the secret behind his flawless performance, the 24-year-old gave credit to his team’s relentless efforts in putting together a car that was competitive enough and extended thanks for the support and guidance he had received from them.
“There is no secret, it's step-by-step,” Vettel said. “To win the championship here is just fantastic. There are lots of things that you want to say but you can't remember all of them. I'm just so, so thankful to everyone in the team.”
He said it would not have been possible for him to achieve all this alone as at the end of the day it is all team work and everyone’s contribution counts.
He specifically mentioned his personal trainer Tommi Parmakoski, who has been a great motivation to him from the start of his career.
“Parmakoski and his family have been very supportive, and he is the one person who kept me focused and motivated me throughout the season not letting me slacken at any point,” Vettel said.
