Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing says 2011 Formula 1 season seems difficult
The Red Bull Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel has told the media that the upcoming season seems difficult among the strong F1 contenders.
He said all Formula 1 drivers will be very competitive in the upcoming season because they have completely learnt the different features of their cars and now it is easy for them to achieve their goals.
As regards to the 2010 performance, he told the media that it was a great success and a big relief for him when he won the drivers’ championship in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. He added he hoped the 2010 performance makes
him a bit stronger for the 2011 races because it seems a long, hard and tough season.
After his brilliant 2010 performance, Vettel topped the time-sheets on two consecutive days at the last Barcelona test in a strong-looking RB7 car. However, he is already looking well placed to challenge for a second drivers’ crown this season.
In order to take some time away from Formula 1, Vettel spent some time with his family and friends. He said, “I spent it together with friends and family. We have started again with the new cars, preparing for the new season so after all I wouldn’t say life
has changed too much.”
About the team’s 2011 car, Vettel said, “We seem to have a good car but it’s still early - far too early to tell, so we have to wait and see. There have been a lot of changes, which involved a lot of work over the winter as we tried to get the whole package
ready for the start of the season. It’s very busy now and we’re all trying to do our best to get the best possible packaging together.”
Dealing with the tyres, he is not yet satisfied with the working of the new Pirelli compounds. Despite the hard-wearing compound issue in the previous years, the new official Pirelli tyres have been introduced with soft and super-soft compounds.
Vettel stated that it is too early to predict the best pace of the team’s 2011 machine.
