Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing wins Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing won the Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit despite a devastating accident in the very first lap of the event which retired the championship leader, Fernando Alonso, from the race.
Starting from the pole position, the Red Bull driver made it to the finish line, convincingly. The victory at the Japanese GP closed the gap with the championship leader to 4 points only. The second position on the podium was secured by Felipe Massa, of
Ferrari, whose place in Ferrari is being questioned in the team due to his inconsistent performances over the circuit, luckily escaping from the incident.
The third position on the podium was attained by the Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi which was nothing less than a gift for his home fans whereas the McLaren drivers could only make it to the 4th and 5th position, Hamilton being 5th. Hamilton told that he
was struggling with the understeer issue with his car which resolved by itself in the 20th lap.
An interesting fight was witnessed in the final laps of the Suzuka event when Button pushed Kobayashi for the third position however the McLaren driver could not edge the Sauber driver. The race seemed conclusive when, after the introduction of safety car,
Vettel attained a convincing lead over Kobayashi. The lead of the Red Bull driver was maintained until the finish line of the race.
Sergio Perez who retired from the race tried hard to get ahead of Hamilton but did not get a chance to achieve his targets. His car spun into the gravel and was dropped from the race. Later Hamilton tried to fight for the 4th position but it was the time
when Kimi Raikkonen also started to attain the 5th position of the British driver. This concluded the race as the two drivers were unable to match the fast pace of the leading drivers.
The seven times world champion Michael Schumacher started from the 23rd grid due to a penalty given by stewards after causing the accident at the Singaporean Grand Prix. He managed to finish the race at the 11th position.
The other Red Bull driver Mark Webber could only make it to 9th position after being victimised by the incident caused by Romain Grosjean. The incident leaves the Australian driver frustrated over the incident as he believes he could have achieved a better
position.
