Sebastian Vettel rules out chances of joining Ferrari in the near future
The Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel has ruled out any possibility of a switch at Ferrari in the coming few years. The youngest Formula 1 champion said that he was happy being with Red Bull.
There were a lot of speculations that the German may join Ferrari in the near future and the Red Bull team had denied all those speculations.
Vettel said, “It is smart to not put too much weight in those things. In the off-season there are no wheels turning unfortunately and obviously there are still pages to be filled with ink - something to be written or something to be said.”
The young German is eager to defend his title in the 2011 season. He had to fight hard in the 2010 season in order to win the championship. Vettel was third in the driver’s standings heading into the final race at Abu Dhabi.
However, he earned the title with a strong finish in the race whereas his team-mate, Mark Webber ended-up third in the overall standings.
The current champion claimed, “I feel very comfortable in the team, and obviously our focus is on the new car, on today's test and we have always gone step by step so we should not think ahead too much.”
On the other hand, Mark Webber was also confident of a positive show in the 2011 season just like Vettel and he claims that he will be stronger in the upcoming season.
He said, “"I have a great opportunity and a great team of people around me to focus and go out there and try and improve on what I did last year.”
Red Bull had a strong season in 2010 as they won both the titles. The team was dominant throughout the season as it took 15 pole positions in 19 races.
However, the team had some reliability issues at the start of the season and that cost the drivers some crucial points. The team will be looking forward to start well in the next season which will kick-off in Bahrain next month.
There will be a stiff competition for Red Bull in the upcoming season as Ferrari and Mclaren-Mercedes will be much better compared to 2010.
Webber and Vettel will have to do a lot of hard work in the next season, both personally and as a team in order to secure both the titles again for Red Bull.
