Sebastian Vettel says Adrian Newey gives him confidence – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that their chief technical officer, Adrian Newey gives him confidence to perform well on track.
The Milton Keynes based squad struggled a lot with the design of RB8 during the pre-season testing programme and failed to get the most out of it during the first few races.
Nevertheless, Newey kept on working hard and successfully developed the most competent car in the field towards the end of the season with which the 25-year-old performed incredibly well during the last few grands prix and seemed unbeatable.
Even though, the veteran German driver had a very tough competition with Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who also performed tremendously well throughout the year. However, he beat the Spaniard by just 3 points to claim his third successive world championship
title after securing admirable 6th place finish in the classic season finale.
Vettel became the youngest triple world champion in the history of the sport after winning the drivers’ title this year. He expressed his immense gratitude towards his team and praised the efforts of the Briton who is certainly one of the most talented engineers
in F1.
In addition, he said that Newey gives him confidence and is the best car designer. He also said that he feels great to work with such a genius. Besides, he said that they can surely achieve more in the future together.
“You need to feel happy in the team you're in and it is essential to have a competitive car,” Vettel is quoted by Sporting Life. “Right now I have them both. This is where Adrian is so brilliant. He gives me confidence and he designs world-beating cars.
It is an incredible experience to work with him. I think we can do even better.”
Meanwhile, Newey also expressed great delight on winning their third championship title and said that he really loves to work with Red Bull.
“At this team we keep egos and politics to a minimum and try to keep an atmosphere where there's no finger-pointing. We encourage creativity. And our results and titles show how all that has paid off,” Newey said.
