Sebastian Vettel says Mark Webber struggled less with RB8 in 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that his teammate Mark Webber may have struggled less with this year’s car RB8 as compared to him in 2012 Formula 1 season until now.
The two-time world champion, Vettel secured second podium finish in the first race of the season. Conversely, he could not score even a single point in the second GP at Sepang where he had a collision with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT and finished the race
at 11th place. Moreover, he secured fifth place in the third race in China.
Nevertheless, the veteran German driver finally claimed his first victory of this year in Bahrain after securing the pole.
On the other hand, Webber’s performance has been notably consistent as he managed to secure fourth place finish in each of the four races of the season so far. Moreover, he is currently standing at third position in the drivers’ championship with 48 points
while his teammate is on top with 53 points.
Red Bull have been facing difficulties in finding out the true pace of their car. Even though, Vettel won the race at Sakhir, however, he expressed that he is not completely contended.
Nonetheless, he said that their car has a great potential. He also said that Webber may have created a better understanding about the car, contrary to him, while he said that they have been discussing about the car’s performance with each other.
“First of all we've only had four races. I'm not entirely happy with where we are but I think there's great potential in the car. You have to give yourself time to try different things and see what works best for you. Maybe Mark struggles a bit less, I don't
know, but we talk about how the car feels and agree on most stuff,” said Vettel.
At present, the defending champions are leading the constructors’ championship with the pair of their experienced and talented drivers.
It will be important to mention that Vettel has said that they are not as confident in this season as they were in the previous year because all the four races have been won by four different drivers with entirely different cars.
