Sebastian Vettel says Red Bull Racing deserve to win 2011 championship – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that they deserve to win 2011 Formula 1 championship, as they have really worked hard for the season’s title so far.
Vettel added that he is looking at the championship at the moment, because there is still some time left in the season. In addition, he stated that he knows they are in a very strong position at the moment, as they have a massive gap of points in leading the championship battle.
The German won his eighth race of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Italian Grand Prix recently. After securing a pole position for the Italian GP in the qualifying round at the Monza racetrack, he successfully won the race on Sunday.
The 24-year-old driver commented, “We are in a very strong position, which I think we deserve to be in because we've been working very hard with very few mistakes. I don't really think about the points and the gaps and the possibilities in the next race.”
On the other hand, Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner said that he believes the 2011 Singapore race will be the most challenging race for them despite their current form in the ongoing season.
Horner added, “Maybe we should run with no downforce, because it worked at Monza. It's a completely different challenge, it's the bumpiest, toughest track on the calendar coming up, physically demanding, hot, more corners than any circuit so its going to be a big challenge.”
Apart from that, he mentioned that their RB7 car was very effective throughout the Italian race weekend and that it really helped Vettel during the race.
Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber retired from the Monza race due to an accident after completing 4 laps.
Red Bull Racing are still leading in the constructors’ title fight with 451 points, 126 points ahead of second placed, McLaren-Mercedes.
Let’s see how Vettel manages the upcoming race weekends of the ongoing season.
