Sebastian Vettel says Red Bull have learnt a lot in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that they have learnt a lot from the adversities which they faced in the 2012 Formula 1 season and especially from the Brazilian Grand Prix which has taught them that the success lies in paying attention to
detail.
Vettel faced immense problems during the start of this season as the Milton Keynes based team struggled with the design of their car due to the changes in the rules and regulations by FIA.
The veteran German driver failed to dominate in this season as compared to the preceding one in which he claimed 11 race wins. Nevertheless, he came up really strong in the last few races as Red Bull’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey successfully developed
the fastest car for the 25-year-old towards the end of the season.
Although, Vettel’s main rival, Fernando Alonso fought very well with him until the end of the season at Interlagos. However, he performed inspiringly well even after facing immense problems in the last round and won the championship battle from the Spaniard
by just 3 points.
After winning his third successive world championship title, he has become the youngest triple world champion in the history of the sport and expressed that they have learnt many things in this year which will surely help them in attaining better results
right from the start of the next season.
“It was such a crazy race with unforeseen situations looming almost around every corner you could rightfully use the word chaotic and that it ended for us the way it did was due to the fact that we never lost sight of bigger picture,” he said.
“You start to understand how many small steps it takes to achieve such result steps that, when they happen, probably have no big significance for you in that very moment, but that can have quite an impact on final result. I think that 2012 and especially
that Brazilian race has taught us that success lies in the detail,” he added.
Besides, he said that they are now looking forward to make the significant developments during the winter tests so as to come up even stronger in the coming season.
