Sebastian Vettel says Red Bull still in a good position after Silverstone race – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team driver Sebastian Vettel has said that they are still in a good position after the recently held 2011 Formula 1 British Grand Prix.
Vettel has won six rounds out of nine races of the 2011 season so far. He failed to win in the recently held Silverstone Grand Prix, as Ferrari’s driver Fernando Alonso benefited from a slow second pitstop from Vettel during the race and ended his race at
the top spot.
Red Bull driver’s Silverstone race results were satisfactory for the team, but he insisted that the Red Bull team must catch up with Ferrari after their brilliant performance at Silverstone.
The German admitted that the race was quite tough at the Silverstone racetrack and that Alonso was much quicker as compared to him, which is why the two-time world champion successfully beat him in the British Grand Prix.
Vettel said, “It was a lesson to learn, and it is up to us now to refocus and make sure that we come back with stronger performance for the next couple of races. It is a very important time now for the championship. We need to keep working on ourselves because
the otherwise the others come too close for our liking.”
The 24-year-old driver is still leading the 2011 Formula 1 drivers’ championship with 204 points. He is quite relaxed as he has a 92-point advantage over his Spanish rival.
On the other hand, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner praised the strong performance of Alonso in Silverstone.
Horner said, “It was a race of two halves. On inters we seemed to be very strong and through the middle phase of the grand prix we seemed to be okay. But then the balance seemed to shift during the second half of the race.”
Both the drivers, Vettel and Mark Webber finished their race at the second and third places respectively at the Silverstone race circuit.
After the British Grand Prix, Red Bull team is still confident for the upcoming race weekends of the ongoing season.
