Sebastian Vettel says Red Bull team is struggling if he is struggling – Formula 1 news
The defending World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, has said that the Friday Practice crash was unintentional and he apologized to the mechanics. The German added that if he is struggling out there in the car, the entire Red Bull camp is struggling as well.
The youngest Formula 1 champion, Vettel, said that the crash was due to the wetness of the track but expressed hope that the grib would be better on Saturday.
The German added, “Unfortunately we couldn't get the car ready in time, I'm sorry for the guys, it makes it a bit more difficult no doubt, but I don't think it will be a big problem. We know the track quite well from the last years. I'm still confident for
tomorrow.” He further added that the drivers are getting into good shape and the Turkish Grand Prix qualifiers will be interesting.
Previously the German crashed his RB7 on the famous turn 8 of the Turkish track. The weather in Turkey was rainy on Friday and many drivers, including Vettel, were waiting in the pits and hoping that the weather would clear up. With the session about to
be over, Vettel took his chance and got the car on the track for some laps.
Vettel lost control of his car in his first lap on the turn 8 and heavily damaged the car. After that, Vettel missed the FP2 on Friday and stayed in the pits.
Talking about the incident, Vettel stated, “It was only fair. Obviously I apologised, because it was not my intention to damage the car. But this is racing, this can happen. If I'm struggling or I have a problem they [team] are with me as well.”
Vettel does not have great memories of the Turkish Grand Prix because in his last outing in the 2010 season, he had a crash with his team-mate Mark Webber. Nevertheless, Vettel has a faster car this season and hopefully he and Webber will stay away from
each other during the race.
The final Free Practice session continues in Turkey on Saturday followed by the Qualifiers.
