Sebastian Vettel says he is committed to Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he has developed a great affiliation with his team and he is committed to it.
It has been reported that the two-time world champion has signed an agreement with Ferrari for 2014 during 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco. However, he discharged all the rumours and said that he is very happy with Red Bull and doesn’t want
to go to any other team.
“I've been wearing a Red Bull helmet for almost my entire career,” Vettel told Autosport. “It is difficult to imagine another kind of life if you are so used to it. I am very happy where I am right now and I don't want to move on to anywhere else.”
It will be very important to mention that the team advisor of Red Bull, Helmut Marko said that Vettel has a fixed agreement with the team until 2013. Nevertheless, he is free to go anywhere else afterwards but on the fulfilment of one condition which is
related to performance.
“2013 is fixed for us,” Marko said. “For 2014 there is a performance-related clause in his contract - for him and for the team. It depends on the rankings in next year's world championships. If Vettel and Red Bull slip in the drivers' or constructors' championship,
he could go.”
However, the chances of Vettel leaving Red Bull are quite low as he has claimed the championship titles in the last two years and it seems that he may not leave too soon.
The veteran German driver, along with his teammate, Mark Webber, is currently just 3 points behind the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who is leading the drivers’ championship with 76 points.
On the other hand, Red Bull are at the top of constructors’ standings with 146 points and they are 38 points ahead of their closest rival, McLaren.
Despite struggling during the start of the season, they have still been deemed as the out-and-out favourite for this championship.
Furthermore, they are trying their best to make the essential advancements and the necessary preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the races ahead in order to defend their championship title this year.
