Sebastian Vettel says he is happy to see Mark Webber at Red Bull beyond 2012 – Formula 1
Sebastian Vettel says he will be happy if Mark Webber plans to stay on with Red Bull beyond 2012.
Webber’s contract ends with Red Bull at the end of the 2012 season. Speculations of the Aussie planning to sign up with a different team are rife. Despite the rumours Webber has maintained that he has not yet decided on his future at the moment and has not
hinted at leaving Red Bull neither staying on.
He did however mention that the stage his career is at he has decided to do one year contracts and he has been signing up with Red Bull ever since.
Team principal Christian Horner has also said that he would like Webber to stay on with the team. Vettel also believes that Webber is an asset to the team and they are working well as a team. It is clear that both drivers are not very close off the track
yet the German admitted that his pairing with the Aussie has proved to be fruitful for him and for the team.
“I can understand why people are thinking that there is a problem between Mark and myself,” Vettel said. “Yes, we might not be best friends, but I have no problem with him and he has no problem with me.”
“We work well together and we are both trying to pull the team in the same direction. We have a similar view for the car, it's not as if one likes the set-up in the opposite way to the other. I think that is helping us, and so far it is working quite well.
I'm not sure of his contract, but at the moment I think he is doing a very good job,” he added.
Webber has been doing well in the current season. He won the Monaco Grand Prix and has remained consistent in all the races. He is currently second in the drivers’ standings behind Fernando Alonso. With the pace the Red Bull car has shown and the unpredictability
of the season there is every chance that the Aussie can bid for the 2012 title win.
