Sebastian Vettel says he would be fine with Kimi Raikkonen as his teammate – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that having Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus as his teammate in 2014 would be fine for him.
Vettel had a huge conflict with his present teammate, Mark Webber after the Malaysian Grand Prix in which both of them fought for victory towards the end of the race.
There have been many reports which are suggesting that Red Bull are considering Raikkonen as potential replacement of Webber for the next season. Meanwhile, the Australian driver has been surrounded by many speculations that he is going to leave the sport at the end of this season and has already agreed to race with WEC Porsche team in the coming year.
The three-time world champion has said that he is not bothered who will be his future teammate and asserted that if he wants to claim victories in the races he will have to beat everyone.
“I don’t care who my teammate is,” German Vettel told Sport Bild. “If you want to win, you have to beat everyone.”
However, he expressed that he knows the Finn very well and they have no issue with each other as they are matured as drivers. Besides, he stated that he gets along well with the 2007 world champion. In addition, he said that there will be no problem in their garage if the 33-year-old joins their squad in the next season.
“But if Kimi was my teammate: fine! We have no problem with each other and we’re mature enough to deal with it even in a difficult situation. I get along well with him,” Vettel said while referring to Raikkonen. “He’s just very honest. There’s no bullshit with him.”
On the other hand, the Finnish driver also supported the assertions of the defending champion. Additionally, he said that he shares great trust with the German driver and they are both open and honest.
“We trust each other in a duel to not do anything stupid,” said the Finn. “We’re both open and honest. If we were to crash, we would probably complain about each other, but that’s just normal.”
