Sebastian Vettel says that Red Bull Racing is making history in F1 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has stated that his team is on the verge of making history in F1 as it wins the constructors’ championship for a consecutive third time this season.
“Clearly Ferrari and Mercedes have a great history and a kind of mythical status,” Vettel said. “But we’re well on the way to achieving the same with Red Bull. Realising it needs to be our goal.”
The Austrian team has been using cars developed by their chief technical officer Adrian Newey which have not only earned them the constructors’ titles but also Vettel’s consecutive three titles. The team has been constantly saying that the 2012 F1 season
was the longest and toughest season they have had. Newey said that their first championship in 2010 was also tough while the one from last year was easy as their car was both competitive and reliable. This season, the car was not much strong in the beginning
due the new exhaust systems but Vettel’s car became pretty fast in the second half of the season.
Vettel also told that the realisation of winning the championship after such a stressful season leaves you breathless. He said that the moment was even more unbelievable as everything went wrong that could in the season ending Brazilian GP.
Former F1 champion, Niki Lauda, says that Vettel can achieve the same kind of result with any other F1 team and eventually the young German driver will have to change teams like all other drivers in F1.
On the other hand, Flavio Briatore, the former Renault boss, thinks that it is very unlikely that Vettel will be partnering Fernando Alonso at Ferrari. He said that it will turn out to be a disaster. Alonso was Vettel’s championship rival both in 2010 and
2012. It is being speculated that the rivalry is only going to become stronger.
Red Bull Racing made its debut in F1 with the 2005 season. Vettel also made his career debut with the team in 2009. Red Bull has now become the fourth team in the history of F1 to achieve three titles in a row.
