Sebastian Vettel secures his 7th pole position of the 2011 Formula 1 season in Valencia
The reigning world champion and current championship leader Sebastian Vettel is at it again as he secured the pole position for the 2011 European Grand Prix which is now his 7th pole position of the ongoing Formula 1 season.
Vettel’s fastest time was around 2 tenths of a second faster his teammate Mark Webber’s lap time even though the Australian driver finished in 2nd place in the timesheets. This means that Red Bull Racing Team is going to have a 1-2 start in Valencia
but they will not get far that easily as they are going to be chased by the former world champion in his McLaren.
Lewis Hamilton is going to start the race from row 2 alongside the Spaniard Fernando Alonso. The Ferrari driver had a pretty good weekend but he was unable to score some promising results during the qualifying session.
Luckily enough, he is going to have some support this weekend at least as Felipe Massa qualified in 5th place ahead of a disappointed Jenson Button. Button had a very good race in Canada and he was hoping of maintaining his performance after scoring
his first win of the season. It seems that might not possible this weekend though as Valencia is a street circuit and overtaking there is not as easy as it is in Canada.
Nevertheless, the two Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher will start the race from 7th and 8th places respectively but one has to say that Rosberg was rather lucky this weekend as he was just 9 thousandths of a second
faster than his teammate.
In row 5, it is going to be Nick Heidfeld and surprisingly enough, Adrian Sutil from Force India. This is a very good chance for Force India to score some good results and it seems that if they get a good start, they might just score the best result of the
season so far as well.
Vitaly Petrov would be disappointed with himself as he was unable to qualify for the Q3 as a result of which, he will be hoping for a good fast paced race in Valencia this Sunday.
