Sebastian Vettel seems unbeatable now – Formula 1
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has become the strongest title contender in this year’s championship after claiming his third consecutive victory in the 2012 Korean Grand Prix and seems unbeatable now.
Vettel entirely dominated during the preceding season as he scored 11 race wins and successfully claimed his second consecutive championship title.
However, the Milton Keynes based team struggled with their car’s design during the pre-season testing programme this year because of the changes in the rules and regulations by FIA. Resultantly, the veteran German driver could not be able to score competitive
points during the first few races.
Even so, he has been considered as one of the most favourite drivers in the championship battle and has performed remarkably well in the season so far.
At present, he is leading the drivers’ championship with 215 points and is ahead of his major rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari how had remained at the top of the standings for quite a long time in this season. Furthermore, he has a strong lead over his
other opponents which mainly include Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren.
Even though, he has been deemed as the most competent candidate for this year’s title, nevertheless, he has asserted that they can’t take anything easy and insisted that they still need to work really hard to make the essential preparations so as to win
the championship.
It will be important to note that although he performed amazingly well in the qualifying of the European GP in which he claimed the pole position but unfortunately he was retired in the race because of the failure of his alternator. Afterwards, he felt really
disappointed as he lost some crucial points in the championship.
Nonetheless, he came back really well in the British GP and secured an incredible third podium finish after taking a start from 4th grid position.
Later on, he faced the issue of alternator malfunction again in the Italian GP in which he could not score even a single point and came 22nd despite taking a start from 5th grid slot. Nevertheless, the defending champions fought back
tremendously well and effectively resolved all the technical issues to help their star driver to shine again.
Now, the two-time world champion is eagerly looking forward to perform well in the Indian GP which is to be held at Buddh International Circuit this weekend and is aiming to win his fourth consecutive race of the season.
The 25-year-old scored an impressive victory in India during the last year and has recently said that he is keenly waiting for this weekend’s race. Additionally, he said that the track of the forthcoming race is one of the most challenging circuits for the
drivers.
“I loved the track layout last year, but not just because I won the race,” said Vettel. “With an average speed of 235km/h, the course is the second quickest of the year after Monza.”
“There is a lot of elevation change around the lap which adds to the fun, from as much as eight per cent downhill and up to 10 per cent uphill; it's like a rollercoaster! It really has emerged as one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar for the
drivers,” he added.
It will be thrilling to see how he performs in the remaining four races of the ongoing season and whether he succeeds in defending his title or not.
