Sebastian Vettel sees brighter days ahead
The 2010 World Championship, Sebastian Vettel fought a tough battle all through the season to embrace the first title of his life. However, he believes that the victory will follow several others for the rest of his career.
The season had been a very tough and demanding one not only for all the drivers but also for the teams. The on and off track rivalry and enmity kept fuelling one after the other races. The top three teams of the season Ferrari,
Red Bull and McLaren and the top five drivers, indulged into a brutal battle that was far from over, until the very last race of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However, as Vettel marked his name in the history books of the sport, for being the youngest
champion of the Formula One world in past 60 years, he admitted that the season taught some very "tough lessons" to him. However, he believes that this intense season made him prepare for even tougher challenges and certainly there is a lot more success yet
to come his way.
Vettel received the trophy officially from FIA last Friday, at the 2010 FIA Gala Prize Giving Ceremony in Monaco. The event was just as overwhelming and awe inspiring for the young champ as was the moment when he clichéd to the victory, at the season decider,
the Abu Dhabi round. As he entered the last race of the season he stood 15 points adrift the charts’ topper, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, holding the third pace, while his teammate, Mark Webber was at second. However, after a long and tiring battle which started
under the blazing Arabian sun and saw the enchanting sunset of Yas Marina, concluding under the flood lights of the most exhilarating circuit of the calendar, Vettel came out as the last man standing.
Recalling the harsh and demanding season Vettel said, "I hope there is much more to come. I want to become a better driver and a better person, but I think this year has been a very tough lesson, but with a very sweet outcome in the end."
The 23-year-old, although faced a lot criticism all through this season, for some poor mistakes on the track, believes that his championship win is the answer to everything. He concluded saying, "I am who I am. I don't need to make any talk about that. I
didn't do it all year and I won't do it now - it is not the time. In the end, I learned a lot this year and what matters most is when you get back - either to a hotel or to home - and finally you can face yourself in the mirror and know exactly what happened.”
